NO. No, no, no no!
Why? Because this is not a Bethesda game. This game is being developed by Arkane Studios, who made Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. It’s PUBLISHED by Bethesda. Why is this so hard for some people to grasp?
I have no clue. To help illustrate how stupidly ignorant this is, I’ll use examples from other media with publisher/developer and financier/creator relationships even a half-wit pork chop could understand.
This is like saying “Looks like Harper Collins has hit it out of the park with Micro!” or “I haven’t seen a 20th Century Fox movie as good as Die Hard since Star Wars!” It’s impenetrable nonsense. Depending on how much or how little input the publisher had, you could make the comparison that they are less like a studio and more of a producer… in which case you would end up with “Ah man, every single time I see the trailer for Lincoln I can’t help but think of The Flintstones movie… looks like a return to form from Kathleen Kennedy!”
It doesn’t make any sense! When you talk about “The Master” who do you bring up as a creator? The director, obviously, Paul Thomas Anderson. And to a lesser extent, the writer of the screenplay (no offense to the writers). Do you say it’s an amazing film from “The Weinstein Company?” Not unless you’re nuttier than a squirrel hoarding grapefruit.
This same type of thing happens with EA/Bioware and Mass Effect. No, EA didn’t make Mass Effect. Bioware did. Think of it this way, if EA was bought out by Ubisoft (purely theoretical), would Ubisoft have made Mass Effect then? No. Bioware would still have created the game and it would have been the exact same, aside from a different publisher name on the box.
*And no smart-assed comments about how EA forces the developers to put in half-assed multiplayer. That’s not the point I’m making, although it does reinforce the fact that the publishers don’t make the games.
